Privacy Policy

SkipBro is built for gamers, not data brokers. We keep the data we collect small, gaming-focused, and in service of helping you decide whether a guide still works.

No selling of personal data · Gaming-focused usage only

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how SkipBro collects, uses, and protects information when you analyze gaming videos, use the browser extension, or access our web app. We use clear language on purpose — you shouldn’t need a lawyer to understand how your data is handled.

Key privacy principles

  • • We collect only what we need to provide SkipBro and keep it reliable.
  • • We don't sell your personal data — ever.
  • • You can ask us to access, update, or delete your personal information.
  • • We design features to respect creators, game publishers, and YouTube's rules.

1. What We Collect

We collect only the data we need to run SkipBro across the browser extension, Gamer Mode, and chat.

Account Information

Email address and basic profile details (for example, when you sign up with Google or another provider). We don't ask for unnecessary personal data.

YouTube & Game Content

The YouTube URLs you paste into SkipBro and publicly available metadata (title, channel, duration). We process this content to power features like Moment Finder, Patch Guard, Build Tree, and squad sharing.

SkipBro Chat Context

When you open chat, we temporarily store the transcripts, build trees, and AI-generated notes tied to your video so responses stay grounded. We do not use your chat conversations to train public models.

Browser Extension Storage

Per-browser identifiers, feature toggles, and lightweight logs that help the overlay know when to show intent chips on YouTube. Extension data lives locally unless you sign in.

Usage Data

High-level information about how you use SkipBro (feature touches, error events, frequency of use) so we can keep the service reliable. Analytics is opt-in via the cookie banner where available.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide, secure, and improve a gaming-focused video analysis service.

Service Provision

Analyze gaming videos, generate timestamps, build trees, and other features that help you decide if a guide still works this patch.

SkipBro Chat

Ground chat answers in your videos and metadata. Context is scoped to your account and cleared when you delete the associated video or ask us to wipe it.

Account Management

Create and manage your SkipBro account, handle authentication, billing, and support requests.

Service Improvement

Understand aggregate usage patterns, fix bugs, and prioritize new features. Where required, we rely on your consent for analytics.

3. Data Sharing

We don't sell your personal data. We share it only in a few limited situations:

Service Providers

With trusted infrastructure and analytics partners (for example, OpenAI, Clerk, Google, PostHog) that help us run SkipBro. They can only use your data to provide services to us and must follow appropriate security practices.

Legal Requirements

When we are required to do so by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public (for example, responding to lawful requests from authorities).

Your Consent

When you explicitly agree to data sharing for a specific purpose such as beta programs or research. You can withdraw that consent at any time.

4. Your Controls & Rights

You stay in control of your personal information.

Access and Control

You can view, update, or delete your personal data. Contact privacy@skipbro.com if you need help exercising these rights.

Video & Chat Deletion

Delete a video or contact support to remove associated transcripts, build trees, and chat history. We will confirm once the purge is complete.

Analytics & Cookies

Opt out of non-essential analytics via our cookie banner or by emailing us. Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember extension settings.

Data Portability

You can request a copy of your personal data in a readable format.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard security controls to protect your data.

Security Measures

Encrypted data transmission, secure storage where appropriate, access controls, and regular security updates to dependencies and infrastructure.

Data Retention

We keep your data only as long as needed to provide the service or as required by law. Account data is typically removed 30 days after account closure, factoring in legal obligations and backup cycles.

6. Content & Fair Use Focus

SkipBro is designed to help you understand gaming content, not to replace or reupload it.

YouTube Content Processing

We process YouTube content only to provide SkipBro features to you. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use the videos you analyze and that your use complies with YouTube’s Terms of Service.

Fair Use & Creator Respect

Our goal is to help you learn and make better gameplay decisions, not to redistribute creators’ work. Use SkipBro in a way that respects game publishers, creators, and applicable copyright and fair-use rules.

7. Cookies & Local Storage

SkipBro uses cookies and local storage sparingly.

Essential Cookies

Used to keep you signed in, remember theme preferences, and keep the extension paired with your account. Disabling these breaks core functionality.

Optional Analytics

Used to understand which features resonate and to measure product health. Controlled via the consent banner at the bottom of the site.

Extension Storage

Intent chips, patch guard toggles, and debugging information live locally inside your browser. Remove the extension to clear it.
